Girls volleyball league takes shape

Apr 16, 2008 9:58 am

The Surprise Community and Recreation Services Department is gearing up for another season of Youth Girls Volleyball League, which will begin in June.

Girls ages 7-15 will learn fundamentals and skills associated with volleyball in an atmosphere where participation and fun are the priority.

Also coming soon is Girls Volleyball Camp. Coaches and players from Valley Vista High School will teach participants the basics of the game. Instructors will teach skills such as serving, passing, setting, hitting and blocking. Camp will be June 9 - 11, for ages 7-15, at Valley Vista High School, 15550 N. Parkview Place.

Resident registration for both Youth Girls Volleyball League and Girls Volleyball Camp has begun and is available through April 26.

Late and non-resident registration will be April 28-May 2. Special Saturday registration will be available to Surprise residents from 8 to 11 a.m. April 26 at the Community and Recreation Services Office.

Surprise is looking for youth volleyball coaches. Fill out a volunteer application and get fingerprinted at the Community and Recreation Services Office, 15960 N. Bullard Ave.
